Although the beach months and even the opening of the swimming season are getting closer and closer, thermometers are not keeping up with the anticipation of new swimming trips.
If snow visited the Serra da Estrela this Wednesday, mid-May, the forecasts do not seem to give more room for the sun.
On Thursday, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecast “generally very cloudy skies, periods of rain or showers generally light” as well as “stronger winds in the highlands.”
Showers will be more widespread “in the northern and central regions” and the Serra da Estrela could again experience a white-out scenario with “snow until early morning”.
“Light to moderate winds (up to 30 km/h) are also expected from the western quadrant, sometimes strong (up to 40 km/h) in the highlands, especially in the central and southern regions, and in the afternoon on the southern coast of the Algarve “adds IPMA.
Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to rise “slightly.”
