Authorities have resumed this Monday, at 07:30, the search for a 38-year-old fisherman who has been missing at sea off the coast of Sines (Setúbal) since Saturday, Civil Protection said.
A source from the Alentejo Litoral Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Defense Command explained to the Luz agency that the operation “restarted early in the morning, around 07:30”.
Six operators are currently involved, he said, supported by a Maritime Police ground vehicle, a lifeboat and an Instituto de Socorro a Náufragos (ISN) jet ski.
On Saturday, the fisherman was spearfishing, but around 10:00 p.m., the authorities were alerted to his disappearance, as reported to Lusa at the time by the same sub-regional civil protection department.
The next day, the search was also suspended at the end of the day, but without success, involving three medical examiners, ISN and NCIS personnel assisted by water transport, two boats, two land vehicles, and an aircraft. Air Force.
Sines Maritime Police Commander Luis Filipe Duarte told Lusa that the search will continue this Monday on land and at sea.
“We will continue the search with the same device and expand it to the northern part of the beach,” he added.
