The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, expressed this Monday his “sincere condolences” on behalf of the European Union (EU) on the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
“The EU expresses its deepest condolences on the death of President Raisi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. [Hossein Amir-]Abdollahyan, as well as all members of the delegation and crew [que morreram] in a helicopter crash. Our thoughts are with the families,” Charles Michel wrote early this morning on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The Iranian government today confirmed the deaths of Raisi and Amir-Abdollahian in a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran, the wreckage of which was found with no survivors.
