The City Council of Vila do Conde has announced a public competition for the creation of a recreational park to be built in the public space of the aprestos warehouses on the Caxinas seafront. The project, which has a budget of approximately two million euros, will last nine months.
“This project not only values our maritime heritage, but also creates a new space for the community, a multifunctional space that contributes to the development of community and tourism in the region,” says Vitor Costa, Mayor of Vila do Conde. The competition for requalification has already been published in Diário da República and will run until June 8th. The new park will include a large multi-functional open space designed for daily recreational use, leisure and informal sports, as well as providing the necessary conditions for music shows, thematic exhibitions and fairs and other cultural events.
Work will be concentrated on the floors of warehouses adjacent to the embankment. “Planned works include the installation of paving slabs and infrastructure, landscaping and the installation of recreational equipment,” the municipality says. The aim of the intervention is to protect the existing waterproofing screens and improve the area for public use.
