On Tuesday afternoon, a 53-year-old man suffered serious injuries caused by the fall of the paraglider he was flying near Aberta Nova beach in the municipality of Grandola.
The victim suffered injuries to the lower extremities, pelvis and cervical area, apparently resulting from a fall.
After emergency crews stabilized the situation at the scene, the Grandola Fire Department transported the victim to the emergency department of the Litoral Alentejuno Hospital in Santiago do Cacem.
The alarm was raised at 15:15 and 7 rescuers from the Grandola Fire Department, VMER from the Litoral Alentejuno Hospital and the Maritime Authorities were involved in the rescue operations.
