This Monday, the navy collected a fast ship abandoned off the coast of Cabo de San Vicente in the Algarve. There are suspicions that this is another boat associated with drug trafficking.
Recall that over the past week, the joint actions of the Navy, the Marine Police, the Air Force and the Judicial Police have already led to the seizure of more than 15 tons of hashish and almost a dozen speedboats used by traffickers.
The high-speed craft, currently found drifting, was spotted by the ocean patrol vessel NRP Setúbal. The speedboat “was empty as it had recently been detained in connection with drug trafficking,” the Navy said in a statement.
The Navy ship towed the ship ashore “for reasons of navigational safety and for the conduct of a forensic medical examination by the competent authorities.”
Recall that on Saturday evening, a group of drug traffickers attacked the maritime police off the Algarve, throwing their boat on a police vessel. Two members of the tactical action team were injured and were taken by helicopter to the hospital. On Sunday they received a medical statement. The State Ministry released three people who were arrested on this occasion.
