In a hall full of students from the European School of Vocational Education (EEEP) in Braga, another conference of the Europa Viva initiative took place, organized by morning Post and from CMTVduring the elections to the European Parliament.
The conference, moderated by journalist João Ferreira, was attended by MEPs Maria Manuel Leitan Márquez (PS), Anabela Rodrigues (BE), Sandra Pereira (PCP), MEP Ricardo Morgado (PSD) and Professor Filipe Romao, Professor of International Relations at Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL).
Central themes of the debate were the importance of voting, engaging young people on European issues, and the dangers Europe faces as a result of wars and the rise of extremism, especially on the far right.
Maria Manuel Leitan Marques warned young people that Europe is “here and not in a distant region,” while Sandra Pereira chose to emphasize the importance of young people’s intervention in European issues “that are increasingly becoming Portuguese.”
Ricardo Morgado confirmed the EU’s unconditional support for Ukraine in the war against Russia, and Professor Filipe Romau, confirming the importance of Europe in this process, recalled that peace in Ukraine “depends primarily on the United States.”
