A fire destroyed a house in the village of Milhais in Mirandela, leaving a 45-year-old man homeless. The alarm was raised by a resident himself at 00:50 this Saturday, jumping out of a window to escape.
“I woke up from some loud sounds, when I went outside, I saw all the people in the village running, and when we arrived, the house was already on fire,” he explained CM Carlos Ribeiro, village resident.
Milhais is the furthest village from the Mirandela fire service area, so it took more than half an hour to get there. “Until the firefighters arrived, since they were very far away, we tried to prevent the flames from reaching other houses, but then the firefighters decided everything,” the resident added.
