Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is coming to Portugal on Tuesday to strengthen “excellent relations between states” with a focus on security and defense issues, the Portuguese presidency said.
“This will also be an opportunity to reaffirm Portugal’s commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as maintaining political, military, financial and humanitarian support for Kyiv,” the statement said.
During his stay in Portugal, Zelensky will meet with Prime Minister Luis Montenegro and President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel also confirmed in statements to the press that the visit, originally planned for two weeks ago, was postponed due to the situation in Carchowa and will therefore take place this Tuesday at the fair, where an agreement will be reached. will be signed between the two countries.
“We will sign the agreement tomorrow. The purpose of the visit is to create a framework for bilateral relations in the coming years, and also because Ukraine wants to thank Portugal for the efforts it has made to help,” he said.
