A 23-year-old man died when the motorcycle he was driving crashed on Thursday evening in a village in the municipality of Beja, Civil Protection and fire brigade sources said this Friday.
A source at the Baixo Alentejo Subregional Emergency Command and Civil Protection told Lusa that the accident, which was alerted at 11:28 pm on Thursday, occurred on Rua José Vargas in the village of Baleizao.
Speaking to Lusa, Beja fire chief Pedro Barahona said the man was taken to the city hospital for resuscitation and his death was confirmed at the medical ward.
The relief operations involved the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) and the GNR, as well as the Beja Fire Service, with a total of eight operators supported by three vehicles, including a VMER ambulance.
