Highway 1 (A1), which was closed to traffic in the south-north direction in the Pombal area this Friday due to an accident in which three people were injured, is now reopened, with traffic taking place along the side of the road, the National Republican Guard (GNR) said.
According to the same source, at 1:30 p.m., traffic on the side of the road was moving slowly due to a congestion of vehicles.
The Leiria Subregional Command for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection said the accident resulted in two serious injuries and one minor injury, all of whom were taken to hospitals in Coimbra.
The alarm about a collision between a car and a light truck at kilometer 157 in the Pombal region was received by the authorities at 11:17, the sub-regional command explained.
Ten vehicles and 24 first responders, as well as a National Institute of Emergency Medical Services helicopter, were involved in the relief operations.
