According to the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), disinformation about Ukraine and migration has spread 27 years before the European Parliament (EP) elections, which began on Thursday in the Netherlands.
In Portugal, a false video has circulated in recent days claiming the Kremlin is mobilizing nuclear weapons and placing them in locations to attack the West, according to the latest pre-election EDMO report consulted by Luza.
The video was dated February of this year and was released by the Russian Ministry of Defense on the occasion of the military parade on Red Square in Moscow. Several “fact-checking” platforms, notably AFP’s section on combating disinformation on social media, have already confirmed it to be false.
