The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) announced this Saturday the seizure of more than 130,000 counterfeit goods worth more than 500,000 euros in an operation that resulted in 60 criminal cases.

ASAE said in a statement that the cases involved the sale or concealment of products, counterfeiting, imitation and illegal use of trademarks, as well as product fraud, with six people arrested, two of them for resisting, coercing and disobeying authorities.

“The remaining defendants were charged, they were presented with identification and residence documents, and they were duly notified for presentation to the judicial authority,” the criminal police also indicated.

According to ASAE, Operation Falsus, which ran from Monday to Friday, examined 122 economic operators across the entire commercial chain, from production and import to storage, distribution, marketing and retail, as well as digital channels.

Of the total 130,498 counterfeit items seized, they included clothing, shoes, suitcases, wallets, belts, key chains, sunglasses, caps, cell phone cases, playing cards, lighters and automotive diagnostic equipment with a commercial value of more than half a million dollars. Euro.

During the week of World Anti-Counterfeiting Day, this inspection operation took place as part of the fight against industrial property rights violations, namely illegal acts of counterfeiting, imitation and illegal use of trademarks, and searches were carried out for the purpose of seizure. domestic and non-domestic.
