A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with strong evidence of the rape of a 34-year-old woman in the municipality of Beja, the Judicial Police (PJ) announced today.
In the statement, the SP clarifies that the arrest took place on Sunday and the crime took place on Saturday, the day the SP received information about the complaint formally filed by the victim himself with the police.
“During the investigation, it was possible to establish that the victim, a 34-year-old woman, was approached near her place of residence by a foreign citizen whom she met at the end of May and asked for help (food and other assets) because he was unemployed,” – the message says.
The collected evidence, according to the SP, allowed the arrest of the alleged criminal with the assistance of the PSP.
On Monday, the man was subjected to judicial interrogation, and the most serious coercive measure was applied to him – preventive detention.
The investigation is being led by the Beji Department of Investigation and Prosecution (DIAP).
