Keir Johnston is in the news again, and this time not because of controversy over the true colors of the dress his mother of the bride wore to her wedding ceremony in 2015: “Black and blue or white and gold”?
According to the report, a man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for domestic violence against a woman. BBC News.
Johnston, 39, was accused of throwing his wife Grace to the ground and strangling her with his bare hands following an argument in March 2022. The attempted murder was interrupted by a witness, but according to the court, the man threatened his wife again with a knife and then tried to mutilate himself.
The man was also accused of isolating his wife from friends and controlling her financially. Keir Johnston also tried to break into the car the woman was traveling in and ended up assaulting her. Johnston dragged the victim out of the bar by her hair after she refused to leave with him.
Keir Johnston denied all charges against him in court, but last month he changed his story and pleaded guilty, saying he assaulted his wife and put her life in danger.
The suspect’s defense asked the judge to sentence him to a non-custodial sentence, but Lady Drummond rejected it. In addition to the prison sentence, Johnston is also prohibited from contacting or approaching the woman for the next ten years.
“Johnston is a violent man who has now been brought to account for his disgusting behavior towards his victim,” said Simon Shanks, Detective Inspector Simon Shanks, from Police Scotland.
