Traffic on the IC2 highway in Ota, municipality of Alenquer, was restored this Friday at 19:10 after a major collision between two vehicles, which left one dead and two injured, one of them seriously.
“The accident occurred at 15:25 this Friday in the area of 43.2 kilometers of the IC2 highway in the South-North direction. Two cars collided. The driver of one of the cars is a 43-year-old woman and her companion is the driver of one of the vehicles. A 50-year-old the woman suffered serious injuries. The driver of the second car, a 24-year-old man, suffered minor injuries,” explained CM Daniel Ribeiro, commander of the Alenquera volunteer firefighters.
The official added that the first accident was followed by another: a collision between a heavy truck and a passenger car, which caused only material damage.
There were 17 first responders and 7 vehicles of firefighters and GNR Alenquer at the scene, as well as the VMER of the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital. “The victims came to this department of the hospital,” added Daniel Ribeiro.
In this area, traffic has been diverted in both directions from the IC2 highway through the town of Ota.
