A man was shot dead this morning on the street in the Cape Verdean capital of Praia, according to reports from residents of the Achada de Santo Antonio area, and the Judicial Police (PJ) is investigating the case.
According to the same testimony, the crime occurred shortly after midnight on a pedestrian street for reasons of “settling scores.”
The alleged perpetrator or perpetrators of the crime reportedly slashed the car tires of the victim, who lived in another area (Tira Chapeu).
After leaving a nearby bar, he was shot multiple times as he tried to figure out what was happening to the car and ended up dying at the scene.
The incident follows another in the early hours of Friday in which a teenager was shot in the same area during clashes between groups believed to be rivals and died in hospital hours later.
Last year, the National Police (PN) recorded 39 murders in the archipelago, most of which occurred on the island of Santiago, six more than in 2022.
