Traffic is currently operating normally on the additional route 13 (IC13) in the access area of the village of Pisan, municipality of Crato (Portalegre), where a traffic accident occurred on Tuesday, resulting in the death of two people, the GNR said.
In a conversation with the Lusa agency, a source in the territorial command of Portalegre PPR said that the traffic that took place on the sides of the road after the accident was normalized “at 12:53.”
According to Guarda, the collision, to which authorities were alerted at 7:40 a.m., involving three cars, occurred at kilometer 142.150 of the IC13 highway, near the entrance to the village of Pisao, between Crato and Portalegre.
The accident killed two men, aged 34 and 72, who were pronounced dead at the scene, a source at the Alto Alentejo subregional command for emergencies and civil protection told Lusa.
The collision also left two other men, aged 44 and 63, seriously injured and taken to Portalegre Hospital, a GNR source said.
Section IC13 was initially “closed to evacuate casualties” and then air conditioned, with traffic moving along the roadside until the road was fully reopened at 12:53 p.m., according to the Guard.
26 first responders were mobilized to the scene, supported by 10 fire engines, the GNR and the National Institute of Emergency Medical Services, including a VMER vehicle from Portalegre Hospital.
