A worker and a fireman were injured while fighting a fire that broke out this Wednesday at a woodworking factory in Vila Nova de Poiares, reports the Civil Protection of Coimbra.
A source from the subregional command for emergencies and civil protection of the Coimbra region told Lusa that the victims suffered burns and were taken to the emergency department of the Hospital of the University of Coimbra (HUC).
A firefighter and a company worker were injured in the fire, which was discovered around 9 a.m. in the industrial area of Vila Nova de Poiares, Coimbra district.
According to the source, 31 operatives from the Poires and Serpins volunteer fire stations in the municipality of Lausanne fought the fire, while NTC soldiers were also present at the scene and took responsibility for the incident.
