President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky celebrated this Friday the Constitution Day of Ukraine and especially noted Article 17 on the protection of territorial integrity, which concerns the Armed Forces.
“Millions of Ukrainians demonstrate their commitment to it (Article 17) every day,” Zelensky said in recorded remarks at Lviv railway station in western Ukraine after returning from Brussels, where he attended a European Council meeting on Thursday.
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the leaders of the European bloc in Brussels for starting negotiations with the aim of Ukraine joining the European Union.
This Friday, as part of statements made on the occasion of the 28th year of the adoption of the Constitution (approved in 1996), Zelensky also referred to the “historic decision” of the European Union on Ukraine.
“We are now moving towards Europe. In all respects. All of Ukraine has embarked on this difficult path. Much has been achieved, but there is still a long way to go. We cannot stop or go down the wrong path. We must reach our destination,” added the head of the Ukrainian state.
Zelensky also said that full integration into the European Union is a goal shared by “different generations of Ukrainians who fought for an independent and European Ukraine.”
The leader stressed that Ukraine’s Constitution is “people-oriented” and added that Ukraine’s “resistance” in the face of Russian invasion is not a “simple issue of territories and sovereignty” but also “human rights.”
