Nurses in Lisbon’s health centres are striking this Thursday to demand better wages and career advancement, and will be submitting a petition to the Ministry of Health later this morning.
The strike, organised by the Portuguese Nurses Union (SEP), will take place in the morning and afternoon shifts, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, and will cover the health centres of the local health units of Amadora/Sintra, the Tagus Estuary, Loures-Odivelas, Santa Maria, São José and West Lisbon.
According to the union, with this strike, primary care nurses in Lisbon intend to demand a career progression point system, with updated pay and retroactive payments from 2018.
