The US president has taken full responsibility for his widely criticised performance in a televised debate with Donald Trump, saying it was just a “bad episode” but has refused to withdraw from the White House race.
In his first post-debate interview Friday with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, a former White House communications director, Biden acknowledged he had a bad night against Republican rival Donald Trump but insisted there was no indication of “any serious condition” regarding his abilities.
“It was a bad episode, nothing serious. I was exhausted. I didn’t listen to my instincts. (…) It was entirely my fault, no one else’s,” he explained.
