A passenger was thrown into a luggage compartment suspended from the ceiling due to severe turbulence on a flight from Spain to Uruguay on Monday.
The plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Natal Airport in Brazil. Of the 325 passengers on board the Boeing 787, 30 were injured and received medical treatment.
According to Air Live Ten people suffered serious injuries, including broken necks, facial injuries and chest pain. The incident was confirmed in a report published by Air Europa.
The damage is being assessed. According to images posted by passengers on social media, the plane’s roof was damaged and a seat was broken.
The victims were taken to the Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital in Natal. G1.
