Maria Trindade da Silva, 64, has lived in a house in a cemetery in Jaguatu, Ceará, Brazil, for more than 20 years. “I’m not afraid of those who are dead, I’m afraid of those who are alive,” she told the portal. G1.
The woman lived with her husband, who worked there as a gravedigger, until he died of a long illness. He currently has no source of income and lives on donations.
The house is simple, filled with cats and dogs, as Maria adopts many stray animals abandoned nearby.
Maria says that, apart from insects and some pesky animals, she has adapted to life in the house. However, due to her financial situation, she now intends to move in with her daughter, who lives in the city of Sao Miguel, Rio Grande do Norte.
