A problem discovered on a Boeing 777 flight from London to Hong Kong this week has forced the plane to return to its departure point an hour from its final destination.
The British Airways flight, which took off almost two hours late, was flying over Turkmenistan when the pilot decided to return to the company’s base in London instead of heading to an alternative airport or to Hong Kong, Globo reported.
According to the same source, a British Airways spokesman said that “the flight returned to London Heathrow Airport as a precaution due to a minor technical issue.”
“It landed safely and passengers disembarked normally. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience during their travel,” he added.
A few weeks ago, another British Airways flight to Houston, USA, returned to England after landing on the North American coast. The passengers had remained on board for 24 hours and faced a nine-hour flight.
