Jordan Bardella, the National Union’s candidate for prime minister, criticised the creation of “unnatural” political alliances aimed at “preventing the true vote of the French people”.
“Despite a second-round campaign marked by unnatural alliances that sought by all means to prevent the French from freely choosing another policy, the National Union (National Rally, in French) has today achieved the most important success in its history,” said Jordan Bardella at the Chesnaye du Roi pavilion in south-eastern Paris, where the party’s election night is taking place.
According to the leader of the National Union, “the alliance of shame and the dangerous pre-election agreements reached by Emmanuel Macron and Gabriel Attal with far-left formations are preventing the French from pursuing a policy of national recovery.”
