The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed his grave concern on Tuesday about the UN and non-governmental organisation (NGO) hostages taken by Houthi rebels in Yemen in June.
In early June, Iran-backed rebels kidnapped more than a dozen UN and international aid workers in operations that appeared to be coordinated.
“We remain extremely concerned about the fate of the 13 UN and NGO staff who have been held for more than a month by Ansar Allah, the de facto authorities in Yemen,” said Jeremy Lawrence, a spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, using the official name for the rebels.
