Socialist Party leader Pedro Nuno Santos on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Luis Montenegro of issuing an “election threat” on a day when the Socialists showed their willingness to negotiate and make the state budget viable.
“On the same day that the leader of parliament [Alexandra Leitão] use the word include [o Orçamento do Estado]”The leader of the government, the prime minister, is threatening elections, challenging the motion of no confidence,” criticized Pedro Nuno Santos at the end of the parliamentary days in Castelo Branco.
According to the PS general secretary, it is the government that must “present the budget by October, and if there is a party that has been persecuted” on this issue, it is the PS.
“The day the PS talks about making things viable, it becomes available to make things possible, which is what the Prime Minister has to do, instead of using the PS’s capabilities to come up with a common solution, which we have from the Prime Minister, they are threatening elections,” he criticized.
The Socialist leader of parliament warned on Monday that if the negotiating range of the state budget is “closed” by measures such as the IRC or the young IRS, it will become “more difficult” for the PS to make it viable, demanding a “significant say” in the document.
The chairman of the PSD and Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said yesterday that if the PS is playing games over the budget negotiations, then have the courage to overthrow the government.
