The Criminal Investigation Department of the PSP of Porto is carrying out a mega-operation to combat drug trafficking in several areas of the city of Porto. The operation began early Tuesday evening with the aim of catching drug traffickers red-handed.
More than 40 warrants have been issued and at least 10 people are already in custody. The operation is being led by a judge and involves hundreds of police officers.
A total of 38 searches were carried out in the areas of Pasteira, Pasteira Nova, Pinheiro Torres and Gaia.
Also seized were large quantities of drugs, weapons and cash from two different networks that had been operating for several months. The two networks were called the “Simon Network” and the “Dragon Network.”
About a year ago, the PSP arrested a confectionery baron.
Those detained are people who have already been convicted of the same crimes.
