A 70-year-old woman died on Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a car on the A3 highway in the Santo Tirso area. It appears the victim was putting up a warning triangle when he was hit.
At 16:47, the Ermesinde firefighters were alerted to a traffic accident on the A3 motorway in the direction of Porto/Braga, near the Santo Tirso exit, in the Covelas area, Trofa.
An ambulance and resuscitation team from the Santo Antonio hospital and a support motorcycle from INEM were also called. Elements of the concession company were also mobilized to the scene.
Resuscitation efforts had not yet begun. However, the woman did not survive the injuries she received and died on the spot.
The GNR Traffic Squad and the GNR Porto Road Accident Investigation Unit are investigating the causes of the accident.
