The United States “cannot withdraw from the world,” US President Joe Biden said Thursday following the NATO summit.
“My predecessor made it clear that he was not committed to NATO,” Biden recalled, taking a direct swipe at Republican nominee Donald Trump, whom he will run against in the November presidential election.
Biden has guaranteed that if he remains in the White House after this election, he will guarantee a position of support for the Atlantic Alliance and all its commitments, especially in the war in Ukraine.
The US President considers himself the candidate best prepared to win the presidential election on November 5, excluding the scenario of being replaced by Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I’m the best-qualified candidate,” Biden said at a news conference following a NATO summit in Washington, responding to questions about pressure from his own party to replace Kamala Harris in the race against Republican Donald Trump.
Asked if he thought Harris would be a good candidate, Biden praised his vice president, recalling her former record as a great prosecutor, but insisted he would be the Democratic nominee.
