Former US President Donald Trump posted a photo taken during the assassination attempt on Saturday on his digital page and used the opportunity to ask for more donations for his White House campaign.
“I am Donald J. Trump. Have no fear! I will always love you for your support. Unity. Peace. Make the United States great again!” the former president’s digital page reads alongside a black-and-white image — but a full-color United States flag — of him with a bloody face and his right fist raised.
Trump, who has not yet been formally nominated as a candidate for November’s presidential election, appears in most polls as the favorite against President Joe Biden, who is emerging as the Democratic nominee with no alternative, despite some in his own party advocating his retirement.
The 78-year-old candidate suffered minor ear injuries during gunfire during a campaign rally ahead of the US presidential election in November in Pennsylvania.
The attack left two people dead, including the shooter, identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who opened fire from a rooftop near the rally.
Two more people were injured in the attack.
