European Parliament President Roberta Metsola on Tuesday described European Council President-elect António Costa, whom she met this afternoon, as a “strong and effective politician” who will “respect” the European Parliament when he takes office.
“I know him as a strong and effective politician, but above all as a person who will respect the European Parliament and with whom we can do great things together,” Roberta Metsola told a group of European agency journalists, including Luce, after meeting with António Costa.
In statements on the sidelines of the first plenary session of the European Parliament in the French city of Strasbourg, the official, who was re-elected to her post on Tuesday, added that she was “looking forward to working” with Costa in this new institutional cycle of the European Union (EU), which is now beginning.
