The Ministry of Justice has announced a competition to recruit 108 new justice officials, but has received only five candidates, the Justice Workers Union (SFJ) condemned in a statement morning Post had access.
The union explains that it has already warned the ministry of a “critical and urgent situation that affects the careers of justice officers.” According to the union, even hiring 108 officers will not be enough to make up for the shortage of 1,260 officers.
For the union, “only” five candidates reflect “a lack of attractiveness and a devaluation of careers.”
“It is expected that by the end of the year 358 bailiffs will retire, and there will also be many exits to other careers, the problem in the courts and the prosecutor’s office, which is currently unstable, will finally stop,” they detailed, in the presentation.
SFJ demands concrete and immediate measures from the government to make the career attractive and sustainable.
“Justice depends on dedicated and respected professionals, and it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that these professionals are recognised and given the conditions to carry out their duties with excellence. It is imperative that this government takes control of the situation and recognises the gravity of this situation,” he adds.
