In a decision that underlines the greater severity with which the Brazilian justice system is trying to combat growing manifestations of racism in the country, a Sao Paulo court has just sentenced a resident accused of racial intolerance to leave the building where she and the victim lived in the Barra Funda district, west of Sao Paulo.
Elizabeth Morrone sparked outrage and anger across Brazil in October 2022 when videos circulated on social media and in the press showing her shouting insults at her black neighbor, influencer and comedian Eddie Junior, with whom she disagreed with living in the same building.
Now, the 29th Civil Court of São Paulo has sentenced the pensioner and her son, also filmed, to permanently leave the United Home & Work condominium within a maximum period of 90 days. Elizabeth has not lost ownership of the apartment in which she lives, which is hers, but she will no longer be able to live in this or any other apartment in the condominium, the author of the process that led to her eviction, since, according to the court, she had an antisocial temperament that does not allow coexistence with other people.
The pensioner was involved in the numerous episodes of racism in relation to an influential person, for example, refused to enter the same elevator in which Eddie was already, and demanded that he left, repeatedly asked the condominium administration to expel the neighbor from the building, always with quotes to the fact that he was black, and while she was not caught with red -handed, the latter with a knife in his hand, tried to lure his neighboring knife into the corridor in his hand in his hand in his hand in his hand in his hand in his hand in his hand in his hand. In order to attack him among the insults expressed to Eddie, always with piercing cries and great aggression, according to the court of the San Paulo, there is a “monkey” and “dirty Negro”.
