Nearly two-thirds of Democrats say United States President Joe Biden should drop out of the presidential race and let the party nominate another candidate, according to a poll released Wednesday.
A new AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, conducted as Biden tries to salvage his candidacy, seriously undermines his post-debate claim against Donald Trump that “mid-level Democrats” are still with the president even as some “big names” oppose a renomination.
The poll, released two weeks after the debate debacle, also found that only three in 10 Democrats are extremely or very confident that Biden has the mental capacity to effectively serve as president, down slightly from 40% in an AP-NORC poll conducted in February.
