US President Joe Biden is considering giving up the race for the White House. According to sources close to the Democrat, cited by The New York Times, the American leader has begun to come to terms with the idea that he may not be able to win the election in November.
The information is based on interviews with four people close to Biden, all of whom described the situation as extremely sensitive and spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid offending the president.
It would not be a surprise if Biden soon made an announcement endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement, one of the sources said.
Reuters also reported on Thursday that the Democrat had conducted a “conscience check” over whether to abandon his presidential campaign after mounting pressure on him.
The current president’s candidacy has come under fire from some Democrats who feel Biden, who was recently diagnosed with Covid-19, is unfit to lead the country.
