“July 13th will be my debut, let’s see what happens.” That’s the message Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old who tried to assassinate Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, wrote on the gaming platform before committing the crime.
In accordance with CNNwhich cited sources close to the case, investigators combed through Crooks’ digital history before the attack. So far, no details have emerged to explain what prompted the young man to open fire at a Republican rally in Butler.
The shooter is even known to have conducted research into depressive disorder, visited the rally site twice and purchased 50 hours of ammunition before carrying out his plan to kill the former North American president.
Thomas Matthew Crooks was a young white man, a registered Republican, 20 years old, preparing to vote for the first time in the US presidential election. From atop a building about 400 feet in the air, Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several shots at a Donald Trump rally. He struck the former US president in the ear, killed the man, and wounded two people in the room in Butler, Pennsylvania, before he was shot and killed by police.
It is known that the young man did not always have a Republican affiliation. When he was 17, he donated $15 (€13.7) to ActBlue, a political action committee that raises money for Democratic and left-wing politicians. The donation was intended for the Progressive Turnout Project, a national group that mobilizes Democrats to vote.
