Former United States President Barack Obama has yet to publicly endorse Kamala Harris for the White House. Following the departure of incumbent President Joe Biden, the Democrat shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) to pay tribute to him, but did not endorse Kamala Harris.
“Joe Biden has been one of America’s most important presidents, and a dear friend and partner to me. In the days ahead, we will navigate uncharted waters from which an exceptional candidate will emerge,” Obama said in the post.
Second newspaper New York Times, The former US leader has positioned himself as an impartial statesman above the machinations of the party. Although he has decided not to immediately endorse Kamala Harris, he does not have an alternative candidate in mind. He has been more concerned with praising Biden’s achievements than endorsing the current vice president.
Obama took an identical position four years ago when Biden’s advisers pressured him to endorse his candidacy early in the Democratic primary before Sen. Bernie Sanders withdrew.
Obama’s favorite line at the time was: “I don’t want to tip the scales. It would also be a political mistake to support too early now.”
