Elon Musk’s satellite internet service “Starlink” has been activated at a hospital in the Gaza Strip in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates and Israel, the tycoon announced on social media.
“Starlink is now active in a hospital in Gaza,” Elon Musk posted on X, more than five months after the Israeli government approved the service for use in a hospital in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked the billionaire businessman for supporting the hospital, where many medical facilities have been destroyed in more than nine months of war.
Internet connectivity in Gaza is limited due to a lack of electricity and fuel to operate supply centers. This situation hampers the work of medical personnel and rescue teams, and limits the work of hospitals and the centralized system of the Ministry of Health. According to Reuters, high-speed Internet will allow medical consultations via video calls in real time.
