The Commander-in-Chief of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) said on Saturday that the corporation does not yet have the logistical capacity to monitor the general elections on October 9, but assured that law enforcement officers are ready.
“The elections are just around the corner, we are already prepared, but we still don’t have what you could call logistics for the police force,” Bernardino Rafael told private channel STV.
Rafael cited the lack of fuel for vehicles as one of the obstacles PRM faces in its operations.
“We haven’t had normal logistics for the last seven months,” and if the situation continues, it will be “difficult to hold such a big process” as a general election.
Mozambique will hold presidential elections on October 9, which will be held simultaneously with legislative, gubernatorial and provincial assembly elections.
