According to Civil Protection, two 23-year-old men and a woman were killed and three others were seriously injured in an accident involving two cars on Thursday on the road connecting Carvalhal to Troia in the district of Setubal.
According to a source in the subregional command of the National Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection of Alentejo-Litoral, two seriously injured people were taken to the Litoral-Alentejuno Hospital, while the third will be transported by helicopter to the Garcia de Horta Hospital in Almada, from where he will then continue by land to the São José Hospital in Lisbon.
The collision involving two cars took place on Estrada Nacional 261 street and blocked traffic in both directions near Brejos da Carregueira in the municipality of Grândola.
The alarm was raised at 5:33 a.m. and by 8:13 a.m. there were 28 troops on the scene, supported by 12 vehicles and a helicopter.
The assistance includes members of the fire brigade from Alcácer, Grandola, Santo André, Santiago, an ambulance with emergency assistance (SIV) from Alcácer, an ambulance and intensive care unit (VMER) from the Alentejo coast, a helicopter from the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) of the Algarve and elements of the GNR.
