The Voepass plane took off from the city of Cascavel in the state of Paraná, bound for Guarulhos airport in Sao Paulo, a journey of just over 945 km, and crashed in the countryside of Vinhedo, 70 kilometers or less from its destination, for unknown reasons.
The ATR, built 14 years ago in France and operated in Brazil for only two years, was flying peacefully when suddenly, while flying over Vinhedo, it made a sharp turn and rolled at high speed for almost four kilometers in just one minute and crashed into a recreational lawn on a plot of country houses in the Canela area.
Among the fatal victims was a Portuguese man, Gracinda Marina Castelo da Silva, a 48-year-old university professor, holds a degree in chemical engineering from The State University of Western Paraná in Gracinda specialized in this field, obtaining a master’s degree and a doctorate from the Federal University of San Carlos. He currently teaches at the Federal Technological University of Paraná. He leaves behind three children.
