Raquel Almeida, who was just 11 months old, was the youngest of the couple’s nine children. The child drowned Monday, presumably in the swimming pool of the house on Avenida Sacadura Cabral in Granja, in Arcozelo, Gaia. The parents and siblings were at home. The mother, a nurse, provided first aid.
The Aguda Fire Department and INEM received the alert at 12:50 p.m. “We found the child already in the room in cardiopulmonary arrest. We started resuscitation maneuvers, then with advanced support for at least an hour. Everything was done to reverse the situation, but it was futile,” he told reporters. CM Commander Olimpio Pereira.
GNR representatives were on the scene. PSG is investigating how it all happened, whether it was a moment of carelessness and whether there was a delay in calling for help.
