Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who often complains that he is being attacked from all sides in a so-called communist plot to prevent him from returning to power, was the victim of a new and brutal attack on Friday in a campaign stronghold by his main rival, Lula da Silva. But his attackers this time were not allies of the current president or ardent members of the left, but rather bees, even more ferocious than the most radical left.
Bolsonaro was in the city of Macaíba, in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte, a strong electoral stronghold for Lula, and had just stepped out of a well-built truck, surrounded by a crowd of supporters, to praise local political candidates for local councils the following October, when he was attacked by bees. He had just managed to say, “We are a great nation…” when the insects appeared from nowhere and began attacking him.
Bolsonaro, having gathered his strength, tried to fight off the bees and resume his speech, but he failed and, frightened, he cancelled his speech to the fanatical supporters, got off the sound truck and, annoyed, left the city without fulfilling any further election commitments. The speaker of the rally, who was not attacked by the insects (maybe they were specially trained by the left-wing radicals…?), resumed the event, joking: “The man is so cute that he even attracts the attention of the bees.” (END).
