This Saturday, Sporting joined Porto in the First Football League and beat Nacional 6-1 in Madeira in the second round of the tournament.
The national champions went into the break already 2-1 up through goals from Pedro Gonçalves (16′) and Trincao (40′), while the recently returned Nacional were still level through Thomas (36′). The Lions put an end to their resistance in the second half with goals from Dieukeres (51′ and 76′), the first from the penalty spot, Trincao again (57′) and Daniel Bragança (66′).
With their second consecutive win at the start of the championship, Sporting now lead the table with six points, as do Porto, second but with a worse goal difference, while the Black and Whites are in 13th place with one point.
