Two cabin crew were thrown against the walls of an Easyjet plane on Monday after the plane suddenly plunged 200 metres due to turbulence. The flight, which had taken off from Corfu, Greece, and was bound for London, had to be diverted to Rome’s Fiumicino airport to provide medical attention to the victims, according to the report. According to the same source, the incident occurred after 20 minutes of flight at a speed of about 484 miles per hour. The crew members were preparing to serve food to passengers when they were thrown against the walls.
There were 181 people on board the plane.
TO CMThe airline confirmed what happened: “On 19 August, flight EZY8120 from Corfu to London Gatwick experienced turbulence which unfortunately resulted in the injury of two crew members. As a result, the captain took the decision to divert the flight to Rome where the cabin crew received medical attention.”
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and our crew is easyJet’s top priority and our pilots are trained to deal with turbulence incidents. The flight landed safely in Rome where customers were supported in the terminal and crew and a replacement aircraft were arranged to continue the flight to London Gatwick,” the airline said in a statement.
