A 68-year-old man was found dead this Sunday morning by family members in a cornfield in Carapesos, Barcelos. It is reported that the man left home last night to go to a cafe and did not return.
This Sunday, at 6:45 a.m., he was found by a family who began searching the area of the house.
Family members discovered the body of the deceased victim in a plot of land next to the road, not far from the Karapesos football field.
Firefighters from Barcelos were called to the scene, with the support of VMER Barcelos, but they did not initiate resuscitation efforts and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim had no visible injuries and no obvious signs of a crime were found at the scene.
GNR troops mobilized members of the Criminal Investigation Department to the scene to try to understand the contours of the death.
