Five obstetrics/gynaecology departments and three paediatric emergency departments will be closed this Sunday, according to information published on the National Health Service (SNS) website at 08:00.
According to information published on the SNS portal, five hospitals have closed their emergency departments in mainland Portugal, with Santo André in Leiria being the only one in the country to close two departments (pediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology).
The emergency obstetrics and gynecology departments at the São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal, the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital and Portimão will also remain closed. In addition to these services, the emergency department at the Dr. Manoel Constancio Hospital in Abrantes will also be closed.
The pediatric emergency departments at Chavez and Loures (Beatriz Angelo) hospitals remain closed.
Although there are no more closures, there are some conditions: five departments are classified as mentioned, services are reserved for internal emergencies and cases referred by the Patient Emergency Center (CODU) of the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM) or SNS. 24 line.
The Professor Dutor Fernando Fonseca Hospital (Amadora-Sintra) has a pediatric emergency helpline (00:00/08:00 and 20:00/24:00), and the São Francisco Xavier Hospital (Lisbon West) has an obstetrics and gynecology emergency helpline from 00:00/09:00 and 21:00/24:00.
In the central region, the Viseu Pediatric Service is also open from 9:15 to 23:00 this Sunday.
The emergency obstetric services at Santa Maria Hospital (Lisbon) and the obstetrics and gynaecology services at Garcia de Orta Hospital (Almada) are available during the day only to receive cases indicated by INEM.
