The Barcelona Interior Councilor announced this Monday the new political director and chief commissioner of the Mossos d’Esquadra, respectively Josep Lluís Trapero and Miquel Esquius, following the controversies within this regional police force related to the escape of former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont.
The previous chief commissioner, Eduard Sallent, was weakened by the defection of Carles Puigdemont on the 8th, and the official appointment of the new police chiefs will take place on Tuesday at the weekly government meeting.
In her first press conference, Barcelona’s new internal administration adviser Nuria Parlon separated Sallent’s dismissal from the “mistakes” in the operation to arrest Puigdemont.
